Keeping downspout water away from your foundation will help to prevent wet basements and damp walls.
While downspout water is not the only contributor to wet basement problems, there is no doubt that getting this water away from the foundation can help. The GutterScape downspout extension takes the downspout water underground into a 4" solid corrugated pipe. This pipe runs approximately 15 to 20 feet away from the foundation, and terminates at a Bubbler Well. The water runs through the pipe and into the Bubbler Well, which allows it to overflow onto the surface, but away from the foundation where it is less likely to saturate the soil around the foundation.
The length of the GutterScape will vary based on the job conditions, but 15 feet is average. Americrawl can design the GutterScape extensions with a water proofing system for best results for your home.
Some disruption of your lawn can be expected to install the GutterScape, but once completed, the erosion near the foundation and unsightly above ground pipes are eliminated. Lawn mowers can be operated right over the Bubbler Wells without damaging them as they are down in the ground, much like a lawn sprinkler head. The Bubbler lid is easily removable to remove leaves or debris.
While GutterScape downspout extensions will not keep your basement or crawlspace dry by themselves, they are an excellent compliment to a basement or crawlspace waterproofing system and will also improve your homes appearance outside.
